Join the bright side with yellow

Yellow popped up so much on the runways during New York Fashion Week that the fashion world is calling it the biggest colour trend of the season. It seems like every spring season has an “it colour” and this is definitely yellow’s year.

From pale lemons like this Katherine Barclay blouse to deep mustards, it’s gone from the runways to the racks in a whole range of shades. Some people fear yellow, but no need. We can help you find pieces that suit your colouring and personal style.

Pick some fabulous florals

Every spring and summer collection seems to have florals in some shape or form, and for good reason: they look beautiful on everyone! That means it’s easy to find your fit, whether you love big and bright blooms or more subtle buds.

You’ll find floral designs on everything from pants to scarves this season, so you can make them the main focus of your outfit or just accessorize with them. Here are a couple of floral dresses we love from Frank Lyman’s spring line.

Lighten up with pastels

Pastels are a fun and classy way to brighten up your wardrobe.

Some of the most popular pastel shades this year are the classic blues and pinks (and of course, yellows), adding elegance to your look rather than being “look at me!” statement pieces.

A pastel dress like this one from JS Collections is perfect for a wedding or party where you want to dress up a bit but want to keep it simple.

It would even be beautiful evening cruise wear. You could pair it with nude, dusty pink or cream-coloured pumps and a purse and some pearl earrings and you’d be all set.

Stay cool and casual with stripes

Going on a trip, taking a walk on the beach or lounging in the yard? Whatever your days bring, stripes are fun and flattering. We’re seeing stripes in all directions and shades, making these spring 2019 fashions a great option for every body.

Get geometric

Along with stripes, geometric designs are a staple this season – from checkerboard prints to triangles. These funky fashions let you create a kaleidoscope of different looks, whether you want to be laid back or dress up a little.

Opt for bolder geometric pieces if you like clothing that stands out or choose a more subdued pattern that blends in with whatever you’re wearing.

Wrap up in some accessories

Scarves are a gorgeous way to complete an outfit or freshen up an outfit you don’t want to completely overhaul. If you’re going on vacation, pack some scarves. They’re lightweight so they won’t take up much room in your luggage, and they can be used as a cover-up for a dress or pantsuit when it’s not quite cold enough for a coat, or as a bathing suit cover-up when you’re at the pool or beach.
