We’re nearing the end of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which was started in 1985 to bring attention to support for screening, early intervention, diagnosis and treatment.
In 2019 an estimated 26,900 Canadian women were diagnosed with breast cancer and 5,000 died of it. But the good news is, because of advances in research, nearly 9 in 10 women with breast cancer will now survive at least 5 years past their diagnosis.
