As we step into fall and head towards winter, we look to our closets for outfits that help us stay warm and cozy. But while wearing your PJs and fuzzy slippers might be the most comfy choice, it’s not always an option!
The good news is, you don’t have to give up snugness to be stylish! This month, I’m sharing 5 ways to dress smartly without sacrificing comfort.
1. ADD SOME LAYERS.
Layering works on so many levels. First of all, layers keep you comfortable in varying temperatures, allowing you to go from the chilly outdoors to a heated room without breaking a sweat.
Layering also lets you put a dressier piece over top of something super cozy, so you can feel relaxed while looking like you’ve made an effort.
2. COMBINE FUNCTION & FIT.
Fortunately, you don’t have to choose between looking beautiful and being able to breathe! Here are a few ways to do both:
- Try some forgiving pull-up Up Pants that look professional.
- Wear a light jacket underneath your winter coat to your destination, then remove your outerwear to stay warm (but not too warm).
- Go for toasty socks underneath your dressy winter boots to cushion your feet all day.
3. WEAR THE PANTS.
It’s time to let go of the idea that you can only look dressed-up in a dress! If jeans or khakis aren’t an option, a pair of more formal wide-legged pants lets you move freely and sit comfortably.
Even better: wide-legged pants look amazing with a nice pair of flats, which are much kinder to your feet than heels.
4. DRESS UP WITH ACCESSORIES.
This is one of my favourite tricks! Wear a chunky necklace with a soft turtleneck, or a bold scarf over top of a well-worn t-shirt.
That way, you let your accessories do the talking, while you stay oh-so-casual underneath.
5. ELASTICIZE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
Give yourself room to move throughout the day (and night) by choosing stretchy fabrics, whether it’s a pair of leggings, a fitted dress or a long-sleeved top.
Our FIRMA Energywear line of shapewear provides even more comfort by increasing body thermoregulation, lowering muscle fatigue, and reducing lactic acid buildup.
There’s a good chance your fall looks different this year! Instead of an autumn vacation, you may be staying home to spend time with a select few people. Rather than heading to appointments or offices, you might be doing almost everything remotely.
But for those times you’re out into the real world this season, these 5 cozy and chic fashion tips should help you maximize your wardrobe and your comfort.
